Krabi suits an Indian family that wants all functions based at one coastal resort, with limestone scenery and island outings available without turning the wedding into an island transfer exercise. Mainland properties in Klong Muang, Tubkaek and Ao Nang cover the practical brief; Railay remains a more intimate, boat-reached choice.
Watch-outs
Krabi asks for a connection or a longer road journey from a larger Thai gateway, and its resort inventory is less uniform than Phuket's. Confirm the room block, Indian or Jain kitchen terms, indoor rain plan and exact access route before comparing decor proposals.

The Case For Krabi
Why Krabi works for a destination wedding
Krabi puts forested limestone headlands behind an Andaman resort wedding without requiring most families to leave the mainland. Klong Muang, Tubkaek and Ao Nang give you beach properties that guests can reach by road.
The destination can feel quieter and more contained than Phuket while still offering full-service resorts. That trade favours couples who value time together on-property over a large nightlife programme outside it.
The coastline supports two distinct briefs: a residential resort wedding with conventional arrivals, or a Railay celebration where boat access is an intentional part of the invitation. Couples choose the second; Krabi does not impose it.
Ao Nang is the recognised departure point for nearby islands and Railay. A welcome cruise or post-wedding outing can therefore deliver the cliffs-and-coves experience while rooms and principal functions remain at a mainland resort.
November through April is the main outdoor-wedding window on the Andaman coast. Late-December and early-January room blocks tighten early, so venue fit and inventory matter before styling.
Compared with Phuket, Krabi gives up some direct-flight convenience and large-resort breadth for a calmer coast. Compared with Koh Samui, it offers mainland road access for many of its strongest resort choices.

- Watch-outs:
- Properties vary sharply in room count, ballroom provision and outside-catering terms. Compare the operational brief, not only the beach view.
Railay Peninsula
- Best for:
- A smaller celebration where the limestone setting and water arrival are worth a fixed movement plan for every guest and supplier.
- Venues:
- Rayavadee is the reference luxury retreat; each Railay shortlist must be checked for rooms, landing arrangements and indoor fallback.
- Watch-outs:
- No road reaches Railay. The contract, guest communications and production schedule must all acknowledge boat access and weather conditions.

Start with the guest journey
Krabi International Airport is the local arrival point, but India-Krabi schedules can change by season. We price the live options for your dates, often comparing a Bangkok connection with a Phuket arrival and road transfer, then group guests into workable arrival waves.
Match the coast to the wedding
Klong Muang and Tubkaek support the simplest residential pattern: transfer to the hotel, unpack once and hold the main programme on-property. Ao Nang adds restaurants and boat departures nearby. Railay is selected for its setting and treated as a separate access model.
Use the Andaman season honestly
November through April is the principal period for outdoor Krabi celebrations. Rain can still interrupt a coastal programme, so each major function needs an indoor alternative that works at the same guest count and production level.
Know what changes the budget
The resort tier, room block, Indian-catering policy and production build drive the core budget. Railay adds water transport and more constrained supplier movement; a mainland resort can reduce those lines but may require a larger room commitment.
Keep islands in proportion
TAT describes Ao Nang as the principal launching point for nearby islands and Railay. That makes a guest outing easy to understand, but it need not displace the wedding itself: keep the formal programme comfortable at the resort and use the coast where it adds real value.
Budget shape
Krabi is not automatically cheaper than Phuket because a quieter destination can still carry premium resort rooms and specialist catering. A road-linked property usually protects transport and production costs; Railay adds boat movements and tighter loading. We return both the venue fit and the cost drivers before asking the family to hold a date.
